Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both lawyers. They moved to Oxfordshire when she was five and enrolled in at the Dragon School. Emma was just six when she decided she wanted to be an actor. She studied for a number of years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a full-time school of theatre in Oxford in which she learned acting and singing. In a school play and a Stagecoach production, Emma was her role as lead actress at 10 and performed. In 1999 casting began in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered as a casting agent by her Oxford drama instructor. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after auditions of 8. They were selected as the 3 leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's first appearance on the big screen came in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that was released in the year 2001. The film is 2001's top grossing film, breaking records during the opening day as well as the first weekend. Critics were impressed with the film and its performance. The Daily Telegraph, a well-read British newspaper, was awed by her for her outstanding performance. Emma was later awarded five prizes in recognition of her work in the movie.
